Biography Hypnosis changed my life when I was 34 years old. My father, who had smoked since he was a teenager, was diagnosed with Stage 4 throat cancer. He was only 60. His father had died of throat cancer when he was 61. I started smoking as a teenager so the writing was on the wall for me. I turned to a hypnotist to help me end my 20 year addiction to tobacco. I walked out of her office a non-smoker. That was over a decade ago and I’m still a non-smoker. Several years later I decided I wanted to help people quit smoking with hypnosis. I attended the Mottin & Johnson Institute and became a Certified Hypnotist, joining the National Guild of Hypnotists in 2000. But a funny thing happened in the process. I learned that hypnosis can be used for many, many other things than breaking the habit of smoking! It is used by police departments to help investigate crimes, it is used in psychotherapy, it is used by medical professionals to manage pain, and it is used by stage performers to entertain! Since 2002 when I attended Jerry Valley's Stage Hypnosis seminar I have focused most of my hypnosis attention on entertaining audiences as a stage hypnotist. It gave me an opportunity to learn also from "The Dean of American Hypnotists", the late Ormond McGill. Since then I've been performing for all sorts of audiences - from industry conventions and corporate events to high school graduation parties and Adirondack campgrounds. Today I regularly attend conventions and seminars to keep up-to-date on the latest trends in the practice. And as a good professional I maintain liability insurance.
